Victor “Vic” Bohnenkamper, 75, Ireland

victorVictor “Vic” Bohnenkamper, 75, passed away at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday (March 12) at Health South Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville.

Victor was born on June 28, 1937 in Huntingburg, to Victor Sr. and Dorothy (Medcalf) Bohnenkamper. He married Patricia A. Heim on May 12, 1962 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.

He worked as a general manager for Holiday Liquors, a delivery driver for Vonnegut Industries, a medical transport driver, and retired from Toys Auto Parts.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, American Legion Post #147, Ireland Knights of Columbus, Ireland Sportsman Club, and the Ireland Historical Society. He enjoyed bowling and horse shoe pitching. He coached minor league baseball at Ireland in his earlier years and loved attending grandchildren’s sporting, academic, and band events.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia, one daughter, Marlene Schuler, and her husband James Schuler, of Ireland and one son,  Paul Allen Bohnenkamper, and his wife Tamara, of Ferdinand. Also surviving are two brothers, Roy L. Bohnenkamper, of Huntingburg, and Curtis, of Peru, Indiana. Two half-sisters, Shirley Hart, and husband Bill, of Springfield, Missouri, and Barbara Gail Pries, of St. Louis.  Seven grrandchildren, Bethany Rasche, Lauren and Emily Schuler, Abigail, Kelsey, Francis, and Zachary Bohnenkamper. He was preceded in death by one son, David Bohnenkamper, and one sister Joyce L. Knust.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 16) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday (March 15) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Survivors of Suicide of Dubois County, Inc., or
